My trip to Istanbul, day 2
On our second day, my mom told me about a shoe shop - it's pretty good, because the shopkeeper family makes shoes by hand. You can choose pretty much any color, any type of leather (matte, gloss), form, size and accessories (like, well, with or without zipper for high boots). My mom chose high boots with black gloss finish and red accents (220 USD). I decided to get boots with red-ish matte finish and without zipper. The owner told us to wait for 5 days (well, we DID told him that we're leaving in 21 October).
The owner told us that he is a part of a family that specializes in shoe making, and has been making shoes by hand since 1967 or so. He was also very proud of his work, which is a part of being a master, I guess?
We also wandered through Kadikoy almost aimlessly. Took some photos, too.
While we were walking through streets, we also stumbled upon a small bookstore - Black Mustache Store. The shopkeeper was friendly, plus her language skills were pretty impressive - she was fluent in English, Russian and, I guess, Turkish?
Ate some street food - Kokorec was pretty good. After dinner, we went to the hotel to get some rest.
