My trip to Istanbul, day 5
On our next, fifth day, we decided to see Dolmabahche Palace and visit Beyoglu street again.
Nothing worth noting here, except for that magnificent black bird and, uh, magnolia tree. We did not take Dolmabahche Palace and Art Museum tours. The garden was, on the other hand, fine. 😸
After Dolmabahche Palace, we took the train up to the Taksim square.
On our way to the Istiklal street, we noticed big church that turned out to be an Roman Ortodox church. Hagia Triada Greek Orthodox Church is the name (on the Google maps, at least...).
The interior was beautiful. The story of this church is also pretty interesting - it was damaged during some riots against Greek population in Istanbul in 1955.
Decided to lit a candle for my great grandmother, who was a Russian Orthodox by her religious views. Thanks, you were a great person and still serve as a good example even to me.
The other part - main trip through Istiklal street - was uneventful and full of shopping. And I was way too tired to take pictures.
