Japan, part 3: thoughts & regrets
When I was thinking about photography gear I would need in Japan, I thought that my Fujifilm X-T5 + 16mm f/2.8 & 30mm f/2.8 Macro (and a Boya microphone for occasional video clips) would do it.
I was not wrong. The 30mm f/2.8 is a great lens – the closeup capabilities are, IMO, more than I would want: it has 1:1 reproduction ratio, so it's a true macro lens (on paper, I know), it is sharp (though I was using a 1/4 Black Mist filter for half a trip) & small and light.
Anyway, 30mm on the APS-C (45mm on full frame) is my go-to lens, at least when I shoot stills. I see that way, for the lack of a better word.
The weather sealing, auto-focus speed, overall build quality and some other important things are fine, at least for my use case – I was mostly walking around Osaka, Tokyo & Kyoto.
